- To promote promising practices among sites as well as with local,
state, and federal policymaking organizations.
- To encourage cooperation among federal, state, and local agencies
to promote technology based careers for young people with all
types of disabilities.
- To build statewide collaborative partnerships with public and
private organizations that will promote HS/HT.
- To document that HS/HT is an effective tool to improve outcomes
for youth with disabilities, to reduce the number of high school
dropouts, to increase the participation rate in post-secondary
education, and to create less dependence on income support programs.
- To increase the pipeline of qualified young people for the high
tech workplace of tomorrow.
- To ensure that youth with disabilities are exposed to careers
in high tech industries by building coalitions and collaborative
partnerships among state and local departments of education, workforce
development organizations, community-based organizations, advocacy
entities, and other public and private sector community resources.
- To use the HS/HT design to provide both in-school and extracurricular
opportunities for youth with disabilities.
- To improve education and training outcomes for youth with disabilities.
