manufacturing plants, and other technical industries to explore what
is available in the area and to meet with corporate representatives
who can explain the industry and requirements for employment.
Mentoring - Professional
and career advisors meet regularly with students to advise and inform
them about career choices and employment opportunities and advancement.
Job Shadowing - Students
spend time at local corporations to learn specifics about careers
by observing and interacting with professionals.
Guest Speakers - Professionals
from businesses meet with small groups of students to inform and inspire
them.
Internships - Students
participate in paid and volunteer internships that provide on-the-job
training during the summer or school year in areas of interest to
the student.
School Visits - Groups
visit local colleges and technical schools to learn about postsecondary
educational opportunities and requirements.
Leadership/Self Advocacy - Through
participation in the various aspects of High School/High Tech, the
students develop skills that will assist them in pursuing careers
in the technical field.
